Across Mountains and Rivers: Yin Zhaoyang Solo Exhibition 2025

The inaugural exhibition of MOCA Singapore after its relaunch, “Across Mountains and Rivers: Yin Zhaoyang Solo Exhibition 2025,” presents Chinese contemporary artist Yin Zhaoyang’s remarkable works spanning more than a decade. By juxtaposing oil paintings of landscapes with sculptures and multimedia creations, the exhibition explores Yin’s journey of shifting his artistic spiritual will from humanity to nature after being sparked by a 2008 encounter with a photo of a Northern-Wei Era monastery at Mount Song, Henan. Drawing inspiration from various schools of thought since the Modernism Movement, Yin employs an artistic language that bridges East and West. He integrates oil painting with the techniques of traditional Chinese ink and wash, reinterpreting the poetic charm of classical Chinese landscapes through a contemporary lens.
