The circle is the attainment while drawing is the path. "Between Square and Circle: The Path to Perfect Enlightenment" takes Gyatso Rinpoche’s Dzogchen Series and Dzogchen Calligraphy series as its core, exploring how contemporary visual language unfolds the philosophy of Dzogchen. He translates the spiritual practice into a visual language through the repetition of circles, the flow of colour, and the breathing rhythm of ink. The repeated circle evokes continuity, mindfulness, and return, while the confined “square” space of retreat symbolizes boundaries, discipline, and stillness. Within Gyatso Rinpoche’s visual language, the interplay of these two forms deliberately creates a tension through which the practitioner negotiates balance in the world.
